Like everyone on November 5th, I did not expect the result we witnessed from last night’s US Presidential Election.  Everything up to that moment was pointing to quite the opposite result.  Funny how it worked out that way, isn’t it…… Suddenly, Trump won both the general election and the popular vote, despite being increasingly unpopular with each passing year.

Well, I actually believe the result we saw, is not the result we were told we got.  Something felt “off”.  Something was not right….. Trump has always told us not to believe our eyes, not to accept reality, but rather, to accept alternative facts…..He also told his supporters several times that he didn’t need their votes – that he already had plenty of votes – and recently told us that he and Mike Johnson (Speaker of the House) had discussed a surprise plan regarding the election.  I would add that in the past week, we discovered that ultra rich Elon Musk, who has been funding Trump’s campaign and offering big checks to Republican voters in swing states, has been having regular discussions with Putin while also managing satellite contracts for the US government and providing satellite service to Ukraine.  Trump has also admitted to having ongoing discussions with Putin since 2020.  Funny how a series of bomb threats linked to Russia (according to the FBI) took place last night in key voting areas in swing states.  I wonder if other unusual events may have happened, as well?

Trump knew he was losing the election…no one was showing up to his rallies, and he has been losing supporters in every election since 2016.  Even his own son was planning to leave the US if his father lost.  I wonder why he was feeling that way? Wouldn’t his son have known about his father’s sudden amazing popularity? 

Funny how quick the elections were called last night…..faster than any election in my memory! And the numbers just didn’t seem to add up….and still don’t! How odd!  Somehow Trump and Harris both got less votes than Trump and Biden did in 2020.  And Trump got more popular votes than Harris (something that he was unable to do in his last 2 Presidential election bids), while Harris with an extremely popular message, well-organized and energized campaign and very effective voter outreach and new voter registration campaign, received less votes than Trump did in 2020.  Also, early voting was very high, and voting on election day, despite large early voting, still brought so many voters to the polls that lines were quite long in places that never had long lines in the past. Record turnout, yet fewer votes than 2020, despite very enthusiastic voters! What happened to all these voters?  Strange….

Something seems “off”, and I have lots of questions.  While the Harris campaign has conceded the election to Trump, I hope that there are ongoing investigations taking place within the DOJ about alleged reports of ballot and active voter registration status irregularities. The bomb threats, alone, represent another attack on our elections by Russia, and this is a national security concern!  After all, another Russian-supported Trump election ensures the dismantling of our democracy – a goal eerily similar to Putin’s goals for the US!

Quite unexpectedly, we now find ourselves in a place where Democrats are alleging the possibility of a stolen election!  I am sure that certain “traitorous” elected officials, greedy oligarchs, immoral Justices, and foreign dictators – not to mention Trump himself – are laughing at the “genius” of such an outcome.  And they count on the fact that that “appearance” will cause Democrats not to point that out or react to it.  I know that many (who did not vote for Trump) are now very worried about the darkness to come with another Trump presidency.  We did not see this coming, because the momentum and joy and enthusiasm was with the Harris campaign – and joy and enthusiasm for a candidate and campaign usually ensures the winner of the election!  Just as we saw the insurrection with our own eyes, despite Trump and Republicans trying to convince us otherwise, so, too, did we see the “movement” of the Harris campaign and the groundswell of support, despite now being told that somehow, Trump is the more popular one in this election. Alternative realities…alternative facts.

There is a very large part of me that feels that this election is not over yet, despite it being called for Trump by the media, and despite Vice President Harris’s concession.  If, in fact, Trump has stolen the election, and this can be proven, then he is not the winner of the election!  I want to have faith that this is still a possibility!  There are a couple of events that happened this year that seemed symbolic to me, and that give me hope and faith that we do not have to walk down this new potentially dark path we are staring at in the moment. I hope that this will give others hope, as well.  Two of them involved looking up at Light, while the third involved seeing Light all around.  In all three situations, there was connection and unity and possibility and hope! It was a wonderful feeling that I had not felt in a long time! 

In the first instance, I, along with as many as 31 million other people, was able to experience the full total solar eclipse on April 8th (in my area, we could see 95% of the eclipse, so there was still a sliver of light).  The symbolism, of course, was glaringly obvious:  an object (the moon) that “looked” larger than the source of light (the sun), stood between the sun and us, and created darkness and a very cold environment! I could imagine why, in times past, this would have been a scary event creating a fearfully uncertain future which might have left people feeling as if all was lost and they were doomed!  But this was not how it felt this time!  People were gathering to witness this event with such complete joy and awe!  No one was asking which political party they belonged to, or what their beliefs were, or questioning who had a right to be there!  Everyone (and I am certain there were people of all stripes there) was coming together in excitement as ONE, and we were all looking up at the transformation of Light!!  It was an incredible experience!  The day turned to evening for a few moments, and then, a few moments later, it transformed back into daylight again!  The darkness was only temporary and was an illusion created by two massive forces crossing each other’s path.  It didn’t last, and the light never really left us!  It was simply hidden for a time, and nothing more!  It was always there, we just couldn’t see it! Once it was over, the warmth had returned, and people were smiling and laughing! It was hopeful and uplifting, and it was my first instance of complete joy in 2024!  No worries or issues – just everyone together taking part in something bigger than all of us, and something that most of us had never seen before and wanted to be there to experience together!

The second instance, which occurred in May, was the Aurora Borealis.  It was unique, because it could be seen all over the world – not just at the poles! I never in my lifetime expected that I would see the Aurora Borealis, and it was such an amazing experience to watch pink and green lights appear over my home and everywhere else!  Again, people gathered together in awe, and every person had the same excited reaction when they looked up and saw these lights for the first time! And this was happening all over the world!  Everyone looking up!  Everyone seeing Light!  Until recently, human beings were pretty much focused on looking down, but rarely looking up! And staring into our phones kind of became the symbol of that. But there are more events causing us to look up!  And in doing so, we are seeing Light!  This is very symbolic, I believe, and is also, perhaps, a way forward when facing dark times ahead!

And finally, the third instance was the Democratic National Convention!  Wow, was there Light all around!!  It was reflected in people’s eyes, emanating from their hearts, weaving itself into their connections to each other’s experiences, and it gave everyone hope and possibility and understanding that we are part of something greater than our individual selves, and that we are partners in a great movement!  This realization is unstoppable, no matter what temporary barriers are constructed to try and slow it down!  It is Light in action, and it will pierce through the darkness, because it has a destiny and a purpose! 

The gut punch we all felt on Election Day does not have to be an ending to what we thought was possible!  We’ve looked up and seen how the Light connects us, and we have looked out and seen how the Light transforms us and utilizes us to transform the world!  I want to believe that there is still an alternative path ahead, whether it is that Kamala Harris actually was elected and assumes the Presidency in 2025, or whether we, collectively, take up the baton and carry out the mission that she has been symbolically signaling to us: “When we fight, we win!” and “We are never going back!”
