This Saturday, June 14, 2025, we in the United States are being called to make our voices heard by the millions!  June 14th is Flag Day, but this year, it is also “No Kings Day” – a day of mass protests (some 2000 events planned in the US and 150 international events around the world)!  The expectation is that it will be the largest mass protest in American history!  Why is it called “No Kings Day”?  Because the occupant in the White House, Donald Trump, seeks the powers of a king and an ability to be above the law, and needs to be reminded by “We the People” that Kings are not an option in our form of government, that we did not elect a “King”, and that we are a rule of law country! 

This is a dangerous time for our country!  Since the Trump inauguration, we have witnessed almost daily violations of our Constitution and the rule of law, the egregious treatment of immigrants and those considered to be “not truly American”, the unwillingness of our news agencies to honestly keep the American people informed with facts, the abuse of our public servants and misuse of our military, the betrayal of our allies abroad and the favoring of autocrats and dictators around the world, and the inaction of Congress to properly do its job of oversight, informed consent and holding the President and his administration accountable for violations of the Constitution! 

It is not an exaggeration to say that we are dangerously close to losing our democracy!  But to what end, it is hard to tell.  Various interests are competing for control of our government, such as Fascists, Christian Nationalists, Oligarchs and Technocrats.  None of these options align with democracy because they remove the power from “the people” and place it in the hands of an unelected few, and if any of them manage to take full control of the country, it will mark the end of our Constitutional Republic!

This is why it is so important that you take a stand if you believe in keeping a democracy, and wish to remain in a “free” country!  I placed “free” in quotations because we have not yet fully perfected this concept for all people, but it remains an important goal in our democracy, none-the-less; not so much within the other governmental options currently vying for control of our country!

We need a massive turnout from the American people on June 14th!  It is important to clearly show through our numbers, how deeply committed we are to taking a stand for the future of our country, and against the possibility of losing our democracy to a wannabe-king!  We have not had a king since our revolution in 1776, and we do not need one now (or ever)!

Please consider the importance and impact of your voice and presence at this very critical time in our history!  This moment, this weekend, will mark a key turning point in which the world will see how much Americans, like generations before them, will stand up for and defend their freedoms, liberties and values, and will once again say “NO” to a “King”!  This could well be the moment in which we will all, one day, look back and remember what we did or did not do to save our democracy when it needed us most!  Please join us!
