As we all prepare to participate in Saturday’s mass protest, I want to share a few things I am reflecting on……
This is personal for me…..Not because I am special or unique, but because I am an American citizen! And as an American, I am a complex human being who views the world from many perspectives and life experiences. For example, I am a person who was born in the segregated South – in the heart of Dixie; I have paternal ancestors who were slave owners; I grew up in a military family; I am myself a military retiree; my mother was an immigrant; I am a woman; I am gay; I am spiritual but not religious, I am a lifelong Democrat; I am a senior citizen; I have traveled to and lived in many countries around the world; my maternal ancestors have lived on virtually every continent in the world. There are so many descriptors that color my way of looking at the world, and this is not unique to me – This is true for every American! That is what makes our country complex! And it is why we are working through so much division and awakening to the complexity of our differences and similarities right now!
This weekend, many Americans with complex views and life experiences are coming together to speak with one voice – that there are no Kings or Dictators permitted in our representative form of government. In our country, it is “We the People” who decide our future – not a King, not a Dictator. We will unify as one people, despite our differences, because we are recognizing that without asserting the power of our unified voices against tyranny, and without acknowledging a commitment to caring for each other as “Americans” worthy of our respect, decency and honor (no matter how we got here, where we came from, or where we are going), we cannot be the country we thought we were! We must align our truths and our values with our stated form of government! And this is where I think many of us are landing! We want something different and something honest, and we do not want to promote that lie again!
And so, I invite you to consider something important as we unite on Saturday:
What kind of a country do you want to live in? How would it look? How would it feel? How would you feel living in it? How would it be different than what you have experienced in your life up to this point?
Rather than focusing entirely on what we are mobilizing AGAINST, let’s consider giving even more of our thoughts and energy and focus on what we are FOR! Let’s visualize that, feel that, and give it as much energy as we can so that we manifest it in the country and in the world! In the peacefulness of our protests, lets fill them with joy and a desire for transformation! Our ancestors made it possible for all of us to be here in this moment in time for a reason!
Let’s agree that we will move past this current moment of apparent darkness, and commit to making it so much better than it was before!
What we are experiencing presently is the deeply buried and unresolved darkness of our collective past coming to the surface to be faced, acknowledged, and then transmuted. Let’s face it, acknowledge it, and send out love from our collective hearts to all who have suffered, gone unseen, been devalued, been silenced and been discarded. Let’s lift them up and carry them forward into a new country we wish to create and energize and empower!
There is a metaphysical saying: “Your inner world reflects your outer world”. Let’s make sure our inner world is filled with love and peace, so that we manifest an outer world that reflects the same!
To all of those in the US and around the world taking part in the mass protest on Saturday, June 14th (whether in person or in spirit)……..Thank you!!
In Solidarity!

Thanks for this peaceful call to arms, Anita.
Rest assured, I will stand up and be counted at No Kings in ABQ tomorrow.

Well said, Anita … VERY well said. Instead of always focusing on the negative, it is time for us to imagine the country we want this to be. For me, that is one that values all life, that does not discriminate on any basis, one that cares for the environment, for all creatures great and small. I know that will never happen, but it’s certainly a goal we can strive for and maybe make some progress. I am hoping to be able to attend a protest near our home tomorrow, but if I cannot, I will definitely be there in spirit and in my heart.

Thank you so much for your kind and supportive comments, Jill! I share the same concern for all of the things you mentioned, and I do think we can achieve what we want – it just may take a little time to get there! It will be great if you are able to make it to a protest tomorrow, but if not, it is still wonderful having you there is spirit! We don’t all have to be doing the same things – we just have to be engaged in some way, and working towards similar goals – and you do that so effectively in all of your many informative posts!! Stay safe! In Solidarity!!

I’m so glad to have you as part of my blogging family — I truly think we are of like minds! Yes, we give according to our ability. I’ve been having some heart issues for the past few years that have been giving me grief since our “big move” last month, so I’m just not sure I’m up to standing in a crowd for any length of time, but … I may try! Thank you so much for your support and appreciation … and please be safe wherever you are today! Yes, my friend … Solidarity!!!

Thank you so much for your message, Jill! It’s taking me a while to get caught up today, so apologies for the late response back! I’m so sorry to hear about the heart issues, and hope things get better! If you didn’t make it to the protests, don’t worry……There are lots of other ways to be involved, such as driving by protesters and honking for support! Everything helps, so again, don’t worry! And take good care of your heart!

No need to apologize, Anita … I know EXACTLY what you mean. I’m usually at least a day behind in answering comments, and sometimes even longer. Thanks for your caring and support, my friend. Yep, I will keep using this blog to make my voice heard, and if I can do more, I will!

Forgot to add that I wanted to thank you, Larry, for raising your voice in my former home state of Texas! I think it is probably much easier for me to protest in Massachusetts, where I am located, than in Texas – so a big Thank You from the bottom of my heart!!

A very pertinent post, Anita! With many profound and diverse aspects to consider. Loved the series of questions you posed, “What kind of a country do you want to live in? How would it look? How would it feel? How would you feel living in it? How would it be different than what you have experienced in your life up to this point?” They can bring a lot of clarity and help define the path ahead. Be it of love, peace, and harmony for all. Thank you for this great share, my friend. Much appreciated! Light and blessings to you, today and always 🙏✨💖🌻🌈

Every country in the world, probably, has its dark corners and past shames, many of us think we have the moral high hand, then the next thing we know, a riot has happened or a scandal uncovered. But so many people, given the chance, are living in peace with their neighbours, leading quiet civilised lives. So we know we can do it.

I agree with you that given the chance, many people will and do live peacefully with others, and you are right that that is our proof that we can do it! I appreciate your message!!
