Today is National Voter Registration Day in the US!  Did you register?  If not, please consider doing so soon!  Also, please help others register!

The US election is Tuesday, November 5, 2024!

This is a critically important election!  It is an election that will determine the direction our country takes moving forward, and the form of government we will have – Democracy or Authoritarianism?  Government for the benefit of the people, or government for the benefit of the ultra-wealthy? A Constitutional Republic, or an Oligarchy? A free country that values diversity, equity and social and economic justice, or a fascist country that values no one?

And it is not just the Presidential Election that is important!  It also matters deeply which party holds the House and the Senate, as well, because that, too, will determine which direction we can move as a country, how much we can get done, and what types of judges will be placed on our courts – including the Supreme Court!

This is NOT a year for voters to split their votes between parties! This is an election about YOUR future in the US, and our collective future as US citizens!  There is only one party this year that sides with Democracy (unlike any other time you have voted before) – and that is the Democratic Party!  If you believe in Democracy, you must vote Blue up and down the ticket! This is critically important! All other issues won’t matter, if we don’t save our Democracy! There is a reason why, THIS YEAR, many, many Republicans are voting Blue!  This is a sign of just how important this election is to our future as a country!

Here are some critical steps you need to take soon (if you have not yet done so):

**Check the voter registration deadline for your stateEvery state except North Dakota requires people to register if they want to become voters. Depending on your state, the deadline to register to vote could be as much as a month before the election. Click on https://vote.gov/register and select your state to find out the registration deadline.

**Register to Vote!  You can’t vote, if you are not registered (unless you live in North Dakota)!  Go to https://www.usa.gov/register-to-vote to find out what is required in your state!  Many registration deadlines are coming up soon!

**Confirm your voter registration status often (particularly if you are in a “Red” or “Swing” state – but really everyone should do this frequently, no matter where they live)!  There have been many reports around the country of registered voters disappearing from the active voting rolls – Don’t let this happen to you! Check your registration status often, right up to the deadline for registering to vote in your state!  To check your voter registration status, go to https://www.usa.gov/confirm-voter-registration.

**When possible, vote early or vote by mail!  This will ensure that, if there are problems, you will have time to resolve them.  Also, it will ensure you are not subject to shenanigans from those trying to interfere with your vote on election day.  It will also reduce the time you have to wait in line to vote. And finally, it will ensure that your vote is in if there is a weather event, a health reason, or a work or family matter that prevents your ability to vote on election day.

Each of us has a stake in this election!  Our vote is our power and our voice in a democracy!  Please use it wisely, and consider your impact on the lives of so many!  Thank you!!
